It is okay as long as no other religious instrument is within the confines of the library..

The araticle said "on it's property", "I would think that the city owms the property ,so the library would really have no say-so in the matter.

What I was driving at is... if the library is not allowed to have it.. then all religious icons should not be allowed on its property.. The library is a public entity and if one entity cannot have it.. the rest of them should not.

Got it! I agree ,that nobody should be allowed to have it on their property in that case.

No town property or public property .. what is fair for one.. should be fair for all ..

I believe in the separation of church and state..

Back when I was a mere little kid.. I remember all the schools I went to use to have Christmas parties in the classroom.. .. today there is so many forces against and for.. that it should not be allowed at all.. separate parties could be had if the parents want to back it with money on a site.. not public property..

So many children have gotten used to having the parties in the classroom, their parents would have a fit because their child was up happy. It's a double edged sword.

When I read things like this, I sometimes miss Trinidad. Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Orisha, Rastafarian festivities all celebrated with fervor on public grounds. No fussing. No fighting. Those who wish not to participate don't. Those who wish to participate do.

The ONLY reason this is such a big deal in the USA is because of Christianity being used as a political weapon and non-Christians and atheists railing against it (rightly so)

Unfortunately, trying to put religion back in its place (home & places of worship) because it started to intrude on education, public policy and people's private lives and civil liberties, now means stripping away at aspects of religion that have become beloved cultural and community traditions.

It's sad.
